Honorary Wildlife Warden

Rayner Ignatius, one of our Dive Masters at Pom Pom Dive Centre has just returned from an intensive course to become qualified as an Honorary Wildlife Warden. This was held by Sabah Parks Wildlife Department and assisted by WWF.

On the first day, he attended lectures regarding the Wildlife Conservation Act of  1977, conservation issues in the Sabah Area, what powers he as as a Warden with regards to making police reports and enforcement. On the second day he then went to Kalapuan Island for practical training on how to conduct enforcement procedures, there was role play by Sabah Wildlife Department staff with participants acting as either wardens or as poachers. On the last day, he had to take a final exam.

We have now got the results of his exam and are very pleased to report that Rayner has passed and we now have our very own Honorary Wildlife Warden at Pom Pom. Well done Rayner!
