Yunus and Noah were very pleased today to report the first turtle eggs of the New Year at Pom Pom, there had been tracks before but no eggs, but now we are happy to report that eggs have been successfully transferred to our hatchery. The tracks in the sand were examined and we believe them to be the Hawksbill Turtle so from between 45 to 60 days, the eggs should hatch and we will have our first baby turtles for 2010!

今年初の海亀の卵を発見、スタッフのユヌスとノアも大喜びよ！数日前から産卵に訪れたと思われる海亀の足跡を見つけてはいたのだけど、卵は産んでなかったみたいなの。今日はやっと卵を発見、リゾートの保護施設に移動できたわ。産卵に訪れた海亀の足跡から判断すると、これは”タイマイ”という種類の海亀だと思うわ。卵が孵化するまで４５日～６０日ぐらい。２０１０年初の海亀の赤ちゃんの誕生、とっても楽しみだわ！

Wow, after 2 great dives at Timba Timba, our diving guests were very lucky and witnessed a pod of dolphins close to Pom Pom Island. We had 2 dive boats and all our guests were fortunate to see the dolphins jumping and spinning in the water, we think there were about 30 to 40 dolphins, it was an amazing experience. On one boat the dolphins actually came really close so that we could see them under the water. Two of our lady Japanese divers had actually just made their 50th dive that morning, also birthday for two of the guests from Japan & Sweden, so what a way to celebrate, 50th dive, Happpy Birthday, Chinese new year and Valentines day, we were all very happy!

ティンバティンバ島で２本目のダイビングを終えてポンポン島近くまで帰ってきている途中・・・ワォ！！なんとイルカの群れに遭遇したのよ！ボート２台でダイビングに行ってたんだけど、ほんとにこの日のダイビングゲストはみんなラッキーだったわね。イルカがボートの近くまで来てジャンプしたりクルクルと回転するのを全員で見れたのよ。イルカは全部で３０～40頭くらいいたんじゃないかしら。ほんとにビックリでステキな出来事だったわ！しかも、この日の朝は２人の日本人ゲストが５０本目の記念ダイブを終えたばかりだったの！そして日本とスウェーデンからのゲストもお誕生日！
２月１４日は中国正月にバレンタインデー、ゲストの記念ダイブにお誕生日、お祝いごとが重なってみんながとてもハッピーに過ごせた１日になったわ！

先日イタリアから１２泊で滞在されたブルーノさんとアレッサンドラさん。チェックイン時はスタッフ・ヤスミンによるお花のネックレス、そしてお部屋もハウスキーピングによるお花のデコレーションで飾りつけをしてお迎えしました。

~Sally’s Diary~
Sally has been very happy this week, as my parents have been able to travel to Sipadan Pom Pom Island and see where I work on our lovely island. The weather has been really good, nice sunny days with a soft sea breeze, we went snorkelling to Mantabuan and saw many types of sea life, I think the best part for my parents though, was walking on the jetty at night, watching the stars and hearing the sea turtles come up to breathe, one night we saw 7 under the jetty along with Lionfish, batfish and stingrays. My parents are very keen birdwatchers so after this they are visiting the jungles. I should hopefully soon have a list of some the birds that you can see on Pom Pom Island as well soon.

今週はとってもハッピーな１週間だったわ。私の職場、このステキなポンポンアイランドに私の父と母が訪れたのよ。滞在中は天気も良好、おだやかな海風が吹き抜け両親にとって最高の休暇になったと思うわ。マンタブアン島にもシュノーケリングに行ったんだけど、キレイな珊瑚にいろんな種類の魚が見れて楽しかったわ。彼らが１番喜んだのは桟橋でのお散歩。夜空にはたくさんの星。。静かな海には海亀がときおり水面まで上がってきて、息継ぎするのが聞こえるの。桟橋から海亀を７匹も見た日もあったわ。しかも、ミノカサゴやツバメウオ、エイまで見れたのよ。それから、私の両親はバードウォッチングも大好きなの。滞在中は島歩きをしながらいろいろな野鳥を観察していたわ。ポンポン島に生息する野鳥リストも作成しなきゃね。このあと父と母はボルネオのジャングルを訪れバードウォッチングを楽しむ予定。
