First baby turtles in New Hatchery

Two days ago we had our first arrivals in our new hatchery. We were getting worried as there had been some heavy rain a few days previously and we were getting concerned for the eggs. But all went well, and we had 66 Baby Hawksbill Turtles which we released just after Sunset.

Turtle Patrol Keeping Busy

This month are turtle patrols are working hard for the hatchery. Last night they found a batch of 119 Green Turtle eggs with our guests from Italy and France. It was raining when they found the turtle making her nest, but we supplied some umbrellas so our guests were able to wait for her to finish and watch her return to the sea. The eggs were carefully moved to the hatchery to join the others.

We are hoping that we should be getting some more baby turtles very soon.

Malaysia Dive Show

Carla and myself attended the MIDE Dive Show in Kuala Lumpur last weekend, it was held over 3 days with many visitors both business and private enquiries. We had our own booth, and we were very pleased with the amount of enquiries and bookings. It was great fun manning the booth and showing people our lovely resort and the diving that you can find in our waters surrounding Pom Pom. We put up many of our photos that have been taken by Andrea and Carla so it helped people understand the amazing creatures we have here.

I was happy as well, as I was finally able to replace some of my ancient dive equipment and now have some lovely shiny new regs and BCD. It was a very successful show and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors from Kuala Lumpur to our Island.

Yoga

Tatiana from the massage spa has started Yoga classes for our guests at the end of our jetty to help relax and stretch out muscles whilst enjoying the sea view and breezes.  The classes are open to all and are held in the mornings and evenings during daylight hours.

Hawksbill Turtle Release

Yesterday, we had another large batch of baby turtles arrive, this time we had Hawksbill baby turtles with a good hatch rate of 121 out of 128 eggs!  All were released as soon as it was dark with help from our lovely guests who walked down the beach with us to a suitable location away from any artificial light.

Not wanting to rest, Raimond and Aman went out again last night with some of our Italian guests and found another Hawksbill on the beach laying eggs, this time 90 eggs were relocated to the new hatchery so hopefully more babies soon.
